What is a Split Night Sleep Study?

A split night study is a specialized overnight test where the first half of the night
records your sleep to diagnose sleep apnea, and the second half provides CPAP
therapy to determine the ideal pressure to open airway.

What Your Report will show?

Your pressure requirement (measured in cmH₂O) is identified during the study to keep your airway open. At this pressure setting, you can clearly see the before-and-after effect—how breathing events such as apneas and hypopneas drop dramatically and oxygen levels rise compared to the diagnostic phase.
Example
Diagnostic Phase (1st half)
Therapeutic Phase (2nd half)
Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI)
Based on Body position, Sleep stages & Overall
72.3 per hour 4.2 per hour
Oxygen Desaturation Index (ODI) 68.5 per hour 3.2 per hour
Lowest SpO2 74% 91%
Snoring 88.7 min (41.2% of diagnostic sleep time) 3.2 min (1.5%) of therapeutic sleep time
T90 (SpO2 below 90%) 84% 0 min
Arousals 12.2 per hour 3.5 per hour
Sleep Stages Sleep duration in N1, N2, N3, REM Sleep duration in N1, N2, N3, REM
Heart Rate Stats Lowest, Highest & Avg Heart Rate in diagnostic phase Lowest, Highest & Avg Heart Rate in Therapeutic phase

Benefits of Split Night vs. Separate Nights

Single night diagnosis + titration = faster treatment, lower
cost, less inconvenience.
Split Night vs. Two-Night Sleep Study
Feature / Aspect
Two-Night Study
Split Night Study
Number of Visits 2 separate nights – Night 1 Diagnostic PSG + Night 2 CPAP Titration 1 single night – First half Diagnostic PSG + Second half CPAP Titration
Report & CPAP Recommendation Typically 4–7 days (diagnosis + second booking + combined report) 24–48 hours – diagnosis and CPAP pressure recommendation delivered within two days
Overall Cost Higher (two setup fees, two technician shifts) Lower – one setup, one night
Convenience Two appointments, extra travel and time off work One appointment only, minimal disruption
Data Quality Gold-standard full-night PSG + next-night titration Same AASM-standard accuracy for qualifying patients
Follow-Up Speed CPAP initiation delayed until second study is complete Treatment planning can begin within 1–2 days of the study
Great Choice If… You prefer a slower pace, need separate consultation between tests, or have uncertain OSA severity You want fast answers and same-week treatment planning when moderate-to-severe sleep apnea is strongly suspected

Sleep Apnea: India’s Silent Epidemic

Snoring ≠ Sound Sleep

If your partner complains about your snoring, it’s not just a warning sign it means your body is struggling to breathe at night. This is often Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), a serious condition linked to heart disease, daytime fatigue, and reduced quality of life.
